Abstract
The paper includes designing of automatic control of a chemical water treatment plant and its analysis in National Instruments-LabVIEW. The mathematical model used for controller design depicts all the aspects of mechanical-chemical chemical water treatment plant. Transfer function derived is reduced implementing Cohen-Coon algorithm. Closed loop process offers optimal efficiency by maintaining the concentration at set point by controlling the flow rate of water feed in purifier. The system implements PID coupled with dead time compensator for maintaining the concentration of harmful effluents under optimum level. Feed forward controller anticipates the temperature of the reactor by measuring the input concentration. Also, a cascade controller is implemented to control the reactor core temperature by controlling the flow rate of cooling water. Sensor setup and master control are also comprehended for complete automation of plant.
