Abstract
A conically-shaped microlens has been fabricated directly on the end face of a single-mode fibre (SMF) which demonstrates low coupling losses of -1.8 dB and -1.34 dB at the operating wavelengths of 0.82 μm and 1.55 μm, respectively. Experimental results on lateral and axial misalignments are also reported
