Abstract
Self-configuration is regarded a key instrument to increase the efficiency of many management tasks. This work proposes and investigates the application of self-configuring mechanisms to decentralized network management in wireless networks. In particular, the load balancing function has been recently investigated and in this work we consider a distributed algorithm that can be executed autonomously by each Access Point. The contribution of this work, besides the definition of the algorithm, consists in an extensive evaluation of its performance. In particular, we study how the main issues in distributed self- configuring applications (namely stability, convergence, and overhead) can be controlled.
