Abstract :
Mandelbrot introduced the notion of fractal dimension to describe, in a rigorous and quantitative way, the roughness of natural surfaces. Such a fundamental concept has suggested the application of fractal theory to characterize the scattering from rough surfaces. The authors deal with an appropriate electromagnetic scattering model suitable for microwave remote sensing applications
