  • Abstract
Summary form only given.Summary from only given. Crystals combining laser and nonlinear properties for self-frequency conversion of the fundamental laser wavelength are very promising materials to develop diode-pumped visible microchip lasers. The Nd/sup 3+/:Ca/sub 4/GdO(BO/sub 3/)/sub 3/ crystal (Nd:GdCOB) has been demonstrated to be efficient for self-frequency doubling. It has also very good physical properties for crystalline growth and cutting. We report on the performances of diode-pumped Nd:GdCOB crystals put in a short plano-plano cavity, which represents a step toward microchip lasers.
