Abstract :
Summary form only given. A wave-optical laser model coupled to a microscopic plain theory is used to investigate the effects of the active medium on beam quality in InCaN quantum well lasers. It was found that by using a thick quantum well that exhibits strm1g quantum-confined Stark effect (QCSE), the filament width can be increased so that rundamental-mode operation is possible high above threshold with relatively wide-stripe lasers.
