Abstract
Acetylene is an important organic chemical material. Traditional process using CaC2 as raw material will lead to serious pollution and higher energy consumption. As a new process, methane pyrolysis in arc plasma has many advantages, such as simple technological process, less pollution, continuous preparation and easy magnification etc. Methane conversion to acetylene was performed in the gliding arc reactor under different specific energy and magnetic field intensity. The experimental results were analyzed, and showed that the specific energy and magnetic field intensity could affect the conversion rate of methane, selectivity and yield of acetylene, and energy consumption of acetylene.
