Abstract
A new mutual coupling analysis of Adcock antennas in both original and improved Watson Watt direction finding system based on receiving coupling impedance concept is provided. The close electrical spacing of the Adcock antenna elements will introduces some undesirable mutual coupling affects on receiving terminal voltages at the antenna elements. But, by using the symmetry consideration, it is proved that there will be no impact on Direction-Of-Arrival (DOA) estimation accuracy in both original and improved Watson Watt direction finding system. Our simulation results and DOA examples study demonstrate the validity of analysis.
