Abstract :
Quality standards for preserved vegetables establish, among others, commercial categories for satsuma (mandarin variety) according to the percentage of broken slice, slice fragments and peeling defects. The detection process of these defects is made, nowadays, by means of visual inspection and manual separation. This paper reveals the development and implementation of an automatic inspection system based on color image processing and techniques, used for detection, segmentation, identification of the satsuma slices, with the final aim of an a posteriori slice classification, according to the percentage of broken slices
