Abstract :
The paper aims at proposing methods to achieve performance optimization using data-type specification in an object-oriented programming language, Ruby. In particular, the addition operator has been considered in detail in the paper to prove the advantages of the proposed approach. To support the idea, experiments were conducted to establish the feasibility and profitability of the optimization in Ruby using data-type specification and finally it is shown that the proposed methodology results in significant speedups in dynamically typed languages, like Ruby.
