Abstract :
Describes an architecture which is intended to model subsystem interactions in manufacturing such that shop floor contingencies can be appropriately handled by an intelligent scheduling system. The authors´ approach emphasizes local goal maintenance through negotiation to achieve global production goals. Further work includes continued development of additional subsystem agents in the manufacturing scheduling system and empirical studies regarding the effect of changing an AGV strategy in midproduction
