Abstract
Analysis on the transmission and leakage characteristics of PD (partial discharge) signal in GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear) is of great significance for the study of signal propagation mechanism in GIS and circuit design for PD detection in engineering applications. Combined with the specific structure GIS disc insulator, the electromagnetic simulation software Ansoft HFSS is used to study the transmission and leakage characteristics of the electromagnetic wave in GIS through the establishment of different GIS models. The simulation results show that the frequency and amplitude of the leaked signals has something to do with the distance between two adjacent screws, the greater the distance, the lower the frequency of the leaked signals, the greater the radiation amplitude. Meanwhile, the transmission coefficient of PD signal in GIS is simulated by using dipole as the partial discharge signals and the result shows that the main leaked signal frequency band is 1.75GHZ-2.3GHZ with the minimum attenuation of -45DB, when the distance between the two adjacent screws equals to 15mm×55mm. The simulation results provide an important guiding significance for the design of partial discharge detection sensors and back-end circuit design in practical application.
