Abstract :
We describe an architecture for secure, bursty free-space optical communication between rapidly moving platforms, e.g., aircraft. An optimized link protocol minimizes acquisition time. Key enabling components include fast two-dimensional microscanners and photodiode arrays with dual-mode readouts.
