Abstract :
An analytical technique for calculating the steady state rates of requests for universal personal telecommunications (UPT) services, being implemented in a fixed multi-network environment, is presented in this paper. The proposed technique, together with the modelling framework of UPT services developed in the author´s recent paper (1995), calculates various performance measures related to service control points (SCPs) and databases. This technique considers the presence of UPT and non-UPT users in a network. The roaming of UPT customers is modelled by finite state continuous time semi-Markov chains. The application of this technique to calculate an SCP utilisation in a simple UPT network environment is shown
