Abstract
On the basis of the investigation reports of earthquake damage of 522 buildings in 11 districts of Wenchuan county town, the earthquake damage in 12 May 2008 Wenchuan earthquake (MS=8.0) is introduced and made statistical. The results show that the house collapse is less, and the seismic casualty coursed by earthquake is slight in Wenchuan county town. However, the buildings are heavily damaged in there. The damage features of multistory buildings of different kinds are summarized and analyzed. The results indicate that the seismic capacity of RC frame buildings is stronger than those of brick buildings, timber structures and stone masonry structures. The damage to high-rise buildings is slighter than that to low-rise buildings. Based on the damage to buildings during Wenchuan earthquake, the reinforcement of different kinds of the damaged building is made statistical analysis. The problems of reinforcement badly in need of being solved are put forward and some suggestions are provided.
