Abstract :
The ability to remove arsenic (III) by P.vittata and C.demersum in hydroponic condition was investigated in this study. The results showed that P.vittata is more tolerant under the As press with high concertration. The maximum As concertration that two speices can endure is 10 mg/L. The maximum qe(As bioaccumulation per mass of adsorbent) of P.vittata and C.demersum is separately 9266.67 mg/kg and 1857.14 mg/kg dry weight (DW) at initial 100 mg/L of arsenic. Mostly bioaccumulated arsenic were stored in their fronds. It displayed a good positive linear correlations between Qe (As uptake per mass of adsorbent at equilibrium) and the corresponding Ce for P.vittata arselnc uptake, with a maximun Qe of 5085.35mg/kg (DW) at the Ce of 98.23 mg/L,whereas there existed a logarithmic relationship in Cdemersum experiment, with a maximun Qe of 425.48 mg/kg (DW) at the Ce of 98.36 mg/L. The results suggested that the As-tolerant ecotype of P. Vittata extracted effectively As from the water contaminated with As, and might be used to remediate this type of site.
