  • Abstract
    A high-order PMD emulator is presented. It describes the real fiber as a concatenation of several birefringent elements opportunely coupled. We investigated the possibility of decreasing the emulator complexity needed to accurately reproduce the real statistical behaviour. We demonstrated that an opportune choice of the coupling rotation angles allows one to reduce the number of sections while maintaining high precision of the PMD statistics approximations.
