Abstract :
We present a fast approximate time-domain model for ultrasonic signal scattering in plates. This model can be a valuable tool in the inspection of holes in plates (e.g. aircraft skin). One of the common needs in aircraft inspection is the evaluation of the rivet-holes to check for the existence of cracks or other anomalies. This method is superior to brute-force techniques such as finite element since it does not require large computation time. The accuracy of this technique has been established by comparing the simulated results with the experimental data
