Abstract
The study of the distribution and inner structure characteristic of the rural settlement has the extremely vital practical significance to the socialist new rural reconstruction. The high resolution remote sensing has provided the advanced technical method for the study. Therefore, taking Juntun town as an example, this article has conducted the research to the spatial distribution characteristic and inner composition structure characteristic of the typical rural settlement in Chengdu Plain, by using QUICKBIRD images. This research mainly includes the image scaling and enhancing, geometric correction, image fusion, image interpretation, establishment of the rural settlement geographic information system, and analyzing the distribution and inner structure characteristics of the rural settlements by using GIS. The results indicated that the settlement distribution is close to uniform distribution. The rural settlement area accounts for 12% of the total area. The rural settlement average density is 1 settlement per 56209 square meters, the average area of the rural settlement is 6945 square meters. In general, the bare land of the settlement area accounts for 53.1% of the settlement total area while the wood land accounts for 20.7%, the building land for 17.7%, and the bamboo land for 0.3%. Therefore, reducing its bare land is the effective way to improve intensive utilization of the rural settlement land. The methodology proposed here is effective in obtaining the distribution and inner structure characteristics of the rural settlements by using the QUICKBIRDS images.
