Abstract
Summary form only given.Recently, anti-resonant reflecting optical waveguides (ARROW) have received a great deal of attention due to their attractive features such as low optical losses, high polarization sensitivity and ease of fabrication. In this letter, a novel ARROW fabricated using the polyimide/Ta/sub 2/O/sub 5//polyimide material system is presented for the first time. The innovative organic/inorganic hybrid structure is particular suitable for the fabrication of ARROWs with larger core diameter which is compatible to that of an optical fiber.
