Abstract :
The authors report on a workstation that delivers the Infrared Atmospherics and Signatures Prediction Model (IASPM) hosted on a transportable unit, giving a rich assortment of tabular and 2-D/3-D graphical soft-copy/hard-copy outputs. Originally geared to support IRSTS planners and analysts, IASPM has broader applications as a common reference and tool for electro-optical sensor developers, vehicle signature experts, propulsion signature experts, vehicle designers, and weapons system planners. It provides a means of disseminating this information in a practicable form to avionics designers, specifiers, buyers, suppliers, operators, maintainers, strategists and tacticians. The features of IASPM described in detail include the Spectral IR Imaging of Targets and Scenes (SPIRITS) target model, SPIRITS databases, SPIRITS geometric modeling, exhaust plume modeling, background scenes, atmospheric models, the sensor model, expert features, and input/output features
