Abstract :
Modern high power produce power in high-order TE modes. These modes cannot be efficiently transported in a low loss transmission system, which is typically a corrugated waveguide. The current approach is to convert the TE mode to a Gaussian beam inside the tube and then use an external coupling unit to match the Gaussian beam to the HE11 mode in corrugated waveguide. A prototype design for coupling the cavity mode to the HE11 mode inside the gyrotron has been developed.
