Abstract :
The optimum placement of antennas on the Riverine Assault Craft (RAC) is described. RAC structure and antennas are modeled as a connected thin-wire structure and analyzed using the numerical electromagnetics code (NEC-2). Each antenna is excited in the presence of the RAC structure and other antennas and its pattern computed and assessed as a function of location and operating frequency. Optimum antenna configuration was determined by iteration starting with a baseline configuration based on experience. Initial tests indicate good agreement with simulation predictions.<>
