Abstract
IN my previous articles, I´ve focused primarily on product and process innovations because that´s the area in which many engineers practice their profession. My prior comments stressed that: INNOVATION INVENTION COMMERCIALIZATION or IMPLEMENTATION, with the caveat, no commercialization or implementation, no innovation. I took that position, in order to place some boundaries around the practice of innovation as contrasted to the discussion of this activity we call innovation. Innovation has become such a common word in the business press, yet one must search to find breakthrough innovations; incremental innovation abounds, but where´s the next auto or computer industry?
