Abstract :
OCDM techniques are applied to improve spectral efficiency. 1.6 bit/s/Hz spectral efficiency is obtained in an OCDM/WDM system by QPSK optical encoding/decoding along with ultrafast optical time-gating and optical thresholding in addition to polarization multiplexing.
