  • Abstract
    Summary form only given. In electro-optical devices, a crystal with a high electro-optical (E-O) coefficient is highly desirable, in order to reduce the half-wave voltage or the size of devices. It is found recently that Pb(Zn/sub 0.33/Nb/sub 0.67/)O/sub 3/-PbTiO/sub 3/ (PZN-PT) single crystals exhibit a large piezoelectric coefficients and a larger electric field induced strain. We report the results of a recent investigation of the E-O coefficient in PZN-PT over a broad composition range.
