  • Abstract
This paper defines a conceptual framework necessary for leveraging wireless broadband communications to support the implementation of various advanced multimedia services. This framework provides guidance on deploying wireless multimedia systems, supported by the broadband communications systems, in addressing interoperability needs for successful end-to-end communications of the multimedia service. The components of the framework are summarized as follows: 1. Context: Associate a common set of context-aware parameters with the content being distributed. 2. Content: Align the QoS levels within application profiles, for the content being delivered, to the QoS levels within service flows and class identifiers, for the communications infrastructure. 3. Communications: Analyze the use of CLD amongst all layers in the communications protocol stack, to ensure that adequate network resources are available to properly support the QoS requirements. 4. Connectivity: Assess the impact that internetworking, between differing broadband infrastructure solutions, has on the content-to-QoS relationships.
