  • Abstract
Summary form only given.Functional brain imaging has led to dramatic advances in understanding the interrelationship between neurophysiology and brain function. Recently, it has been shown that the stimulus response of both the cortex and the hippocampus is manifested by changes in optical properties that can be measured in transmission or reflection. Here, the authors apply the high spatial resolution of optical coherence tomography to examine changes in the coherent backscatter of a rat hippocampus undergoing chemical stimulation.
