Abstract :
We have improved the performance of communication systems by employing the vectors derived from the optimization technique of signal waveforms (OSW) which maximizes the minimum distance between signal points in an n-dimensional Euclidean sphere. The resulting vectors are used in generating the output amplitude of impulse generator in an M-ary orthogonal modulator where the system error rates are minimized. In this paper, we derive the vectors for 16, 64, and 256 points on the surface of a 4-dimensional sphere. After mapping the signal into M-ary modulator, we have obtained considerable improvement in SNR over 2-D modulation schemes, 1.4 dB over 2×QPSK system, 3.0 dB over 2×8-PSK system, and 4.9 dB over 2×16-PSK system
