Abstract :
Industries in real life are mostly dual resource constrained (DRC) systems in which capacity constraints stem from both machines and human operators. The effective management of these resources is an important issue that can significantly affect the performance of an organization. Resource managers and planners must acknowledge the unique characteristics inherent in different types of resources in order to achieve optimal resource utilisation. In particular, the inclusion and consideration of human characteristics is necessary to allow more accurate depictions of realistic situations. This paper proposes a system for resource capability evaluation to differentiate and characterise individual resources in terms of skills and skill levels. Definition of company roles, resource role evaluation, training facilitation and optimised personnel assignments are also developed in the proposed system.
