  • Abstract
Summary form only given. The efficiency of the Yb/sup 3+/ ions to avoid the bottlenecking effect and to recycle the excess of energy to the upper laser level for the /sup 3/H/sub 4/-/sup 3/F/sub 4/ laser transition of the Tm/sup 3+/ ion in codoped (Yb,Tm):YLiF/sub 4/ fluoride crystals was recently discussed. Based on these studies, new laser experiments were performed on high-quality single crystals longitudinally pumped, within a standard plano-concave cavity, with a CW Ti:sapphire laser.
