  • Abstract
    Oscillating Water Column (OWC) caisson breakwater is a type of wave energy converter which use caisson chamber as OWC air chamber, the paper first introduces concept design of the structure, and then a detail designed OWC caisson is given out. A random wave experiment is carried out in laboratory, an acrylic OWC caisson model is utilized, the first part is to get random wave force on the structure, 17 sets of wave parameters were simulated, wave force on the designed OWC caisson is much smaller than general caisson, according to stability analysis the structure is stable enough; the second part is to test energy capture effect, air pressure in the chamber is measured by two air pressure sensors, experiment result indicates the device is proper for sea area with height larger than 1.5m together with period longer than 6sec.
