Abstract
Due to its increasing deployment in public switching networks, it is envisioned that the asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) technology will provide a platform for the unified transport of signalling information and user data. We consider an integrated system architecture for wireless (specifically personal communications services or PCS) access to ATM backbone networks. We present a methodology or estimating the processing and switching loads of a broadband wireless switching center (BWSC) to support PCS mobility management functions. A BWSC is an access ATM switch that provides support for both PCS and wireline services
