Abstract :
Overvoltage cycling and endurance test data, obtained on full scale series and shunt capacitors, are presented. These tests are carried out in conformance with IEEE and IEC standards, intended originally for use on separate elemental capacitor units. Parallel resonant test apparatus, incorporating a special switching circuit for achieving an overvoltage level required for their in-service performance requirements, is employed.
