Abstract :
Summary form only given. We use the well established technique of cold target recoil-ion momentum spectroscopy to investigate the momentum distributions of He/sup 1+/ and He/sup 2+/ in the focus of 800-nm, 220-fs, 1-kHz laser pulses at intensities ranging from 2.9-6.6*10/sup 14/ w/cm/sup 2/. These differential ion yields give more insight into the dynamics of the ionization process. For double ionization, two models have been suggested, shake-off and TS1 on one hand and rescattering on the other hand.
