Abstract :
The axial range over which a high-speed data-analysis technique yields accurate results is reported. Backscatter-coefficient estimates were used to compare this technique with the rigorously tested technique developed at the University of Wisconsin. Inaccuracies occurring when this technique is applied to strongly focused transducers are also described. The motivation for this work is to determine the applicability of the high-speed data-analysis approach to data acquired in the B-scan image plane
