Abstract
For more than 20 years the IAEA has been supporting Member States for effective and safe use of their nuclear instruments and the most important part of this activity is the provision of training. Starting in the early 80ies it continues until today. Hundreds of engineers, technicians and physicists mainly from developing countries have been trained. This paper shortly describes the strategy adopted during the years, the results obtained, the present strategy, the difficulties and challenges met.
