Abstract
A smart sensor is an integrated system consisting of a sensor and its associated interface electronics. Manufacturing smart sensors in standard CMOS processes has many advantages, such as low-cost, small size, increased robustness and functionality. However, CMOS processes are usually not optimized for sensors, and so the characteristics of the resulting sensors exhibit considerable process spread.
