Abstract :
Summary form only given. We describe the performance of unsensitized Ho:YAG lasers pumped by cw and pulse pumped Tm:LiYF/sub 4/ lasers. Optical-to-optical efficiencies of >17% were achieved in a TEM/sub 00/ Q-switched 2-micron laser operating at room temperature with an average power output >16 W. Mid-infrared generation was achieved in a ZnGeP/sub 2/ (ZGP), near degenerate optical parametric oscillator (OPO) with >6 W of output.
