Abstract
An approximate upper bound on the bit-error rate (BER) of a quadrature phase shift keying (QPSK) OFDM system with symbol repetition using any convolutional code in the Rayleigh multipath channel is determined. The upper bound is approximated with appropriate approximations for the sum of Rayleigh random variables and the Q function. We then demonstrate, through simulation, that these upper bounds are good at the BER´s of interest in a multiband orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (MB-OFDM) ultra-wideband system and give good insight into the performance of these systems in practical channels.
