Abstract
A large portion of America\´s infrastructure has suffered environmental damage. An "out of sight - out of mind" attitude has prevailed, with repairs being undertaken only when absolutely necessary. Rising repair and replacement costs and modern underwater work techniques have led to systematic programs to restore and preserve marine structures. These structures are in shallow harbors and rivers where divers are effective. Techniques used by divers in repair and preservation of marine structures are described.
