Abstract
Unlike the classical non-rotating theory of open channel flows where only one wave type is responsible for the criticality of the flow, the theory of rotating inertial coastal currents must contend with many wave types. Thus the hydraulics of the coastal system are slightly more complicated than the classical channel system. However, the principles of hydraulic control remain the same.
