Abstract
The performance of an antenna system operating at millimeter wavelengths is discussed. Results from several measurements under different test conditions are presented. The antenna was used to make observations from Antarctica of the diffuse sky emission at 94 GHz. The instrument was used with the 94-GHz detector during the 1989/90 Italian Antarctica Expedition. Emission from both the Small and the Large Magellanic Cloud was observed, indicating the presence of a very cold dust component (15 K) coexisting with the warm dust detected by the IRAS satellite. A different run of measurements was dedicated to the emission of the Galactic plane. Again a strong emission was detected, indicating the presence of a similar cold dust component.<>
