Abstract
A slot dipole antenna capacitively fed by a coplanar waveguide (CPW) miniaturized by a pair of compact split-ring resonators (SRRs) is proposed. It is demonstrated that, with a fixed slot length, the resonant frequency of the slot can be lowered significantly when the SRRs are placed close to the central feeding CPW line. In other words, the slot length can be reduced significantly for a fixed resonant frequency. A prototype antenna is fabricated and tested to verify the proposed design.
