Abstract :
In this contribution a derivation of an expression for the capacity of an ultra wide band (UWB) system is provided, taking into account both the attenuation due to the distance and some channel models proposed within the IEEE 802.15.3a task group. The goal is to get a tight upper bound on the achievable throughput with an UWB transceiver where terminals are at a given distance: the capacity converges to a given limit depending on the channel model characteristics when increasing infinitely the bandwidth.
