Abstract
A new portable video system is described that collects and analyzes multispectral data. A shuttered solid-state video camera receives images through a synchronously rotating filter wheel. Six filters can be chosen in the range 400 nm to 1100 nm. The camera sends the data to videotape, and/or to an IBM-PC type computer for real-time digitization and subsequent analysis. The use of this video system from a small aircraft for detecting chlorophyll in a coastal region is described. This system could also be used to measure substances in the water such as phycoerythrin and suspended sediments.
