Abstract
The sustainable transition towards a smarter electricity system with an emphasis on decentralized systems and additional functionalities will be facilitated in the near future by smart (micro) grids. Smart (micro) Grids are very complex systems which must be developed in an efficient, effective and transparent way. A smart (micro) grid isn´t “just” a technological concept but a multi-, inter- and trans disciplinary theme that can only succeed with a common effort of all involved actors. These actors vary in education, beliefs, etc., and are seeking for a pragmatic method to develop a smart microgrid in a very complex and non-transparent sector. Based on several design considerations and a discussion about system development methods, a new method is proposed for developing smart microgrids.
