Abstract
This paper empirically analyzes the effect of import trade spillover on the industrial energy consumption intensity, based on a panel of 32 industrial sectors for 1998-2007.The results show that research and development spillovers embodied in imports have indeed contributed to a decrease of industrial energy intensity both in high and low energy consumption intensity group in China. This paper will interest those policy makers and industrial entrepreneurs who are willing to improve energy efficiency in the industrial sector.
