Abstract
In this paper, analytical models to study the performance of Andon type transfer production lines are presented. In addition to provide the calculation formulas to evaluate the good job production rates, we show that when repair time is short, introducing Andon to stop the line and solve the problems (or defects) is a better way to achieve high throughput of good quality jobs.
