Abstract :
Effects of total solids inventory on the axial voidage profile and the performance of an L-valve have been investigated in a circulating fluidized bed test rig (CFB; 0.15 m i.d. × 5.4 m high). It was found that the characteristics of pressure level across the CFB loop and the axial voidage distribution were a function of the total solids inventory. The results also showed that the total solids inventory apparently affected the workability range of an L-valve. Wider range of solids flux control was achievable with increasing bed inventory.
